Bayon Pastry School in Siem Reap is a vocational training school run by the Bayon Education & Development NGO. It offers free training in pastry and bakery to young Cambodian women from underprivileged backgrounds. The school has a café open to the public, located in a peaceful garden near the city centre. This serves as a practical training venue for students.
Impact: About 50% of the funding for the training comes from the revenue generated by the café. The café offers French-style pastries and brunch options at affordable prices. Specialties include butter, almond, and chocolate croissants, quiches, avocado toast, and the "Bayon Cake" (banana and ginger).
Training Programme: Duration is 12 months, including 4 months of internships in luxury hotels in Siem Reap. Since its inception in 2014, the school has achieved a 100% employment rate for its graduates.
At Bayon Pastry School, students turn simple ingredients into delightful pastries in a serene garden setting just steps from the city centre. Don't miss their buttery croissants or the delicious 'Bayon Cake' made with banana and ginger!
