The Pub Street Experience
Iconic bars: The Red Piano (home of the ‘Tomb Raider’ cocktail made famous by Angelina Jolie) and The Angkor What? Bar, a party pioneer since 1998. Cheap drinks: Angkor draft beer often costs $0.50–1.00 during happy hour. Street food: enjoy rolled ice cream, banana pancakes, smoothies, or even fried scorpions and tarantulas in the side alleys. Markets: just steps away from Phsar Chas (Old Market) and the Angkor Night Market — dine and shop without leaving the area.
Practical Information
Street 08, Krong Siem Reap — downtown, 10–15 min by tuk-tuk from most hotels. Some restaurants open for lunch; the street becomes pedestrian and peaks from 5 PM to midnight (clubs until ~4 AM). Free entry. Safety: expect large crowds between 9 PM and 11 PM — keep an eye on your bags and phones (pickpockets).
