LaBaab — Daun Penh (flagship)
81 E2 Preah Monivong Blvd (93), Phnom Penh 12201 (3rd floor, above Pharmacie de la Gare, near railway station)
Rustic Khmer wood interior, jazz, romantic cosy vibe.
Authentic, inventive Cambodian countryside cuisine by Chef Rotanak Ros — two Phnom Penh branches, including the flagship Khmer-wood dining room above Pharmacie de la Gare.
LaBaab Restaurant is a highly regarded culinary destination in Phnom Penh, celebrated for authentic, inventive Cambodian countryside cuisine. The brand runs two popular branches — the original Daun Penh flagship and the scenic Koh Pich (Diamond Island) location. Chef Rotanak Ros, trained in classical French and Cambodian techniques, elevates rustic Lower Mekong recipes with refined presentation.
Typical dishes range from $6 to $15: signature prahok ktis (fermented fish and pork dip in coconut milk with crudités and edible flowers), fish amok, Mother-in-Law eggs with tamarind, dried fish with pickled ants, and beef lok lak. Drinks include house cocktails, local beers, fine teas, and a curated wine list.
Daun Penh: on the 3rd floor above Pharmacie de la Gare — preserved rustic Khmer wood interior, soft jazz, and hanging metal fish installations. Koh Pich: a more contemporary setting on Diamond Island, with set lunch deals and seasonal Khmer New Year events.
Hours (both branches): lunch 11:00 AM–2:00 PM, dinner 5:00 PM–10:00 PM, daily. Credit/debit cards and mobile payments accepted; free Wi-Fi.
Under the wooden beams of the flagship, a floral prahok ktis and steaming amok prove that Khmer fine dining can grow from countryside recipes — LaBaab understood that early.
