Kravanh
An exceptional restaurant in a restored French colonial villa: authentic Khmer cuisine, sustainable sourcing, and an elegant commitment to tradition since 2009.
Kravanh is a benchmark for Cambodian fine dining in Phnom Penh. Founded by Toan Ek Sophie, it skips modern fusion to preserve the Kingdom's culinary heritage — in a refurbished colonial mansion blending gastronomy and contemporary art.
Philosophy & menu. Traditional recipes, sustainable produce from the founder's organic gardens and small rural producers. Dishes around USD 9–16: fish amok, saraman curry (beef or chicken, star anise, cardamom), wild Mekong lobster Koh Bangkang, papaya or snail and banana blossom salads. Dining rooms host rotating art exhibitions (partnerships with The Gallerist and local galleries).
Atmosphere. Two-storey colonial villa (up to 70 covers): indoor rooms, private spaces, balcony. A candlelit garden terrace by a lighted pool — a quiet escape from the city.
Practical info. 74 Oknha Ket St. (174), Daun Penh. Open 7 days: lunch 11:00 AM–2:30 PM, dinner 5:30–9:00 PM. Cards and local QR accepted. Tel. +855 12 539 977 (English/Khmer, Telegram) — booking strongly advised for garden tables.
Kravanh is dinner in a colonial villa where fish amok leaves the steamer like at home — candlelit terrace, Khmer art on the walls, and that rare insistence on not diluting Cambodian cuisine.
