The shop is at #17B, Street 178, Daun Penh, in Central House, at the end of the gem alley. Alice Varini, jeweler and gemologist, sells jewelry made in Phnom Penh, in gold and silver, with natural gemstones. She states she trained in gemology at ING Paris and in jewelry at HEJ Paris. Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00. Saturday, 10:00–17:00. Closed on Sunday. An appointment is possible outside these hours.

Gold, silver, gemstones

Pieces are in solid 14k or 18k gold, or in silver. She states she does not work in 10k or 9k. Collections are limited editions and can be remade with the gemstone you choose. The stones are described as natural and locally sourced. Blue zircon and white zircon from Ratanakiri are among the gems named. A catalogue is online on the website.

Custom work and workshops

Custom design has been part of the shop from the start: gemstones are cut locally, and two identical pieces are rare in the showroom. Gemology workshops last 2.5 hours, at $45 per person, in the showroom. You handle a refractometer, a polariscope and a loupe. A workshop can be adapted, including for a group or a conference.
