The Rules of the Challenge

For this challenge, we decided to set a budget of 25 USD per person, excluding accommodation. This meant making wise choices regarding meals, transport, and activities. We also agreed not to include unexpected expenses but to stay mindful of costs throughout the day.

The Morning Routine

We started our day with breakfast at a local café. We opted for avocado toast and a coffee for a total of 5 USD. The setting was pleasant, and we enjoyed the morning atmosphere of the city.

After breakfast, we took a tuk-tuk to the Royal Palace. The ride cost 2 USD, a lovely way to explore the streets of Phnom Penh.

Lunch and Afternoon

For lunch, we chose a local restaurant where we enjoyed lok lak, a typical dish, for 6 USD. It was hearty and delicious.

In the afternoon, we visited the National Museum, with entry costing 5 USD per person. We spent time admiring the Khmer sculptures and learning more about Cambodia's history.

The End of the Day

At the end of the day, we decided to treat ourselves to a refreshing drink at a local bar. We had two beers for a total of 4 USD, perfect for relaxing after a busy day.

For dinner, we chose a popular restaurant where we shared a noodle dish for 5 USD. It was a great way to wrap up our day.

Expense Summary

In total, we spent 32 USD for the day, which exceeded our initial budget of 25 USD. However, we thoroughly enjoyed discovering the city and savouring its specialties.

What 25 Dollars Really Allow

With 25 USD, it is possible to enjoy a pleasant day in Phnom Penh, but one must be prepared to make choices. For instance, we could have reduced expenses by opting for cheaper meals or avoiding certain paid activities.

It is important to note that prices can fluctuate, and what is true today may change tomorrow. This budget allows for discovering the local culture, but it is necessary to remain flexible and open to opportunities.
