Theam's Gallery (formerly Theam's House Gallery) is an exceptional cultural destination in the Veal Village area of Siem Reap. It serves as the private home, active workshop, and exhibition pavilion of master artist and designer Lim Muy Theam — a living museum dedicated to preserving Khmer artistic heritage. Located about 10 minutes from the city centre and the entrance to Angkor Wat.
Lim Muy Theam
As a child refugee from the Khmer Rouge in France, Theam studied fine arts and interior design in Paris. Upon returning to Cambodia, he spent a decade leading creation at Artisans d'Angkor, reviving traditional Khmer arts. In 2011, he opened this private compound to pass on skills to a new generation of apprentices.
The Visitor Experience
Living Objects Museum: a maze of rooms featuring Theam's personal collection — historical Buddhas, post-Angkorian musical instruments, and traditional pottery. Apprentice Workshops: outdoor wood sculpture, statuary, and multi-layer lacquer work. Contemporary Galleries: paintings and resin sculptures (including signature colourful elephants). Tropical Gardens: pavilions connected by ponds, lotus flowers, and bougainvilleas. Theam's Café: fresh coffee and juices at the back of the garden. Shop: decor, lacquer panels, and textiles made on-site — not mass-produced souvenirs.

At Theam's Gallery, one moves from the silence of antique rooms to the gentle sounds of wood being shaped: a labyrinth of Khmer pavilions where traditional art and vibrant resin elephants coexist — one of the most poetic visits in Siem Reap.
