The first underground bar in Phnom Penh: an Art Deco Parisian metro station in the basement of the Hyatt Regency.
Metropole Underground is a premium bar-lounge themed around the Paris metro, regarded as Phnom Penh's first underground nightlife venue. Nestled discreetly in the basement (Basement 1) of the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh (#55, rue 178), the space captures vintage European elegance with cast-iron details, brick arches, and retro lamps — descending the staircase feels like stepping into a 1920s French station.
The atmosphere transitions from sophisticated cocktails to lively dance nights: chic yet smart-casual, featuring live concerts and DJs according to the schedule. The Hyatt hosts performances from Tuesday to Sunday, 7 PM to 1 AM (closed on Mondays); the live band often takes the stage around 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM, followed by DJ sets.
The menu blends high-end mixology with international comfort food. Signature cocktails include the “Passport” menu, inspired by iconic metro lines from seven countries (France, Japan, Mexico, the USA, etc.), with each recipe reflecting a major transit hub. On the food side: grilled Australian striploin, fish & chips with homemade tartare, and Khmer beef fried rice. Expect a premium price range (5-star hotel bar).
