Angkor Botanical Garden is a lush public park spanning 15 hectares in Siem Reap — a shaded retreat after temple visits. Located on Charles de Gaulle Boulevard, along the route from the city centre to the gates of Angkor Wat, it is managed by the APSARA National Authority: a modern botanical reserve featuring 500+ indigenous species, landscaped ponds, and habitats for small wildlife.
Five Thematic Zones
Spices & Medicinal Plants: Khmer herbs, culinary spices, and traditional pharmacopoeia · Flowers & Lawns: seasonal blooms and flower beds · Palms Garden: sugar palms, oil palms, and regional varieties · Khmer Garden: traditional crops and fruit trees · Angkor Forest & Wildlife: precious woods, enclosures — ostriches, rabbits, peacocks, turtles (feeding possible).
Practical Information
Free entry (Khmers and foreigners); security may ask for a like on the official Facebook page. Wednesday – Monday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, closed on Tuesday. Tuk-tuk from the centre: ~6,000–8,000 riels (1.50–2 USD). Expect 1 to 2 hours on the paved paths. No plastic bottles at the entrance · koi food ~2,000 riels · air-conditioned café, restaurant, toilets (~1,000 riels), shaded pavilions. Just a few minutes' walk from the APOPO visitor centre (HeroRATs).
After a morning spent among the stones under the sun, this APSARA garden offers shade, birdsong, and paths that invite you to slow down — no ticket, no crowds from Angkor, just the green of Cambodia.
